The Malleable Universe

The world is more malleable than we realise. Our mood seems to influence how smoothly our day goes.

A happy disposition appears to affect traffic lights and parking spaces just as much as it affects our relationships with others.

I have a swimming buddy who once told me he always wins lucky-draw prizes. Sure enough, in the past year I’ve seen his number selected three times (out of the four events we’ve attended together). Is it a coincidence that he’s also the happiest, most cheerful guy I know?

Our state has a tangible, measurable effect on the world around us. Our state affects our energy, and our energy is amplified in groups.

I was once on the committee of a small spiritualist church. In my second year, as treasurer, I used my training and experience to set up a spreadsheet to track attendance and collections.

It was interesting to see how payday weekends consistently brought in the biggest collections, while the end of the month reflected how little disposable income many in the congregation had.

What really surprised me was how collections bottomed out whenever there was conflict on the committee. The mood, state, and energy of the leadership team clearly influenced the energy of the entire congregation—and it was measurable.

Daily practice, of course, makes a big difference. Many people notice they have better days on the days they

meditate.

The ability to forgive, surrender, or accept can rescue a day and prevent a downward spiral when life happens.

Bringing awareness to this allows us to learn from it—and to consciously create a more enjoyable experience of life.

Feedback is the real breakfast of champions. With awareness, you begin to see that life itself is a feedback loop.

So, what is your life telling you?

Your relationships.

Your health.

And your bank account.

Life is constantly giving us feedback. Not as punishment or reward, but as information. When we learn to read the signals, the mirror becomes a teacher rather than a judge.

Use these journal prompts for deeper reflection:

Money / Bank

  • When I look at my relationship with money right now, what does it seem to be reflecting about my sense of trust, ease, or pressure in life?

Health / Body

  • What might my body be showing me about how I’ve been living lately? Where could I offer myself more kindness or rest?

Relationships

  • What do my current relationships reflect about how I listen, speak, give, or protect myself?

Family

  • What familiar feelings or patterns from my family show up in my life today—and which ones feel ready to soften or change?
